No-one wants to see the end of coral reefs. And individual action feels almost impossible.

That’s why we’ve launched the Sheba Hope Grows™ Collective - a community dedicated to investing money, time, and care to collectively grow never-ending hope for coral reefs.

With the power of Web 3 technology, the Sheba Hope Grows Collective shows that together our actions can create a chain reaction of hope to save coral reefs.

So join us and help grow hope.

What is the Hope Grows Collective?

We’ve created a collection of 11,269 sustainable Virtual Reef NFTs on the carbon efficient Flow blockchain, where 100% of the proceeds fund more reef restoration projects around the world.

From sales and resales of these Virtual Reefs, to voting opportunities, actions, works of art, and events, this community will create an ongoing source of funding for reef restoration.

Community members can grow their virtual reefs, level up their coral, unlock marine life, whilst meeting experts, marine biologists, and helping make decisions on restoration work, to ultimately claim a geotagged coral reef star to be planted on a real reef.

Our community of passionate ocean lovers, marine biologists, coral experts and sustainability experts, are all working together to restore multiple reef sites. And being a part of the community means you get to play an active role in the restoration work, making decisions on how the funding is spent.

Our 11,269 unique Virtual Reefs are dynamic, living NFTs featuring vibrant coral on Reef Star structures. Each virtual reef is an interactive 3D scene with a collection of different coral species & colours, unique to your individual NFT.

We’ll set objectives for the community to achieve which you can take part in. Once achieved, your Virtual Reef will actively grow to a new level.

Watch as your coral spreads across the Reef Star, growing bigger and healthier. You could even unlock unique marine life including fish, rays, sharks and turtles.

On this website, you’ll be able to interact with your 3D Virtual Reef by zooming and rotating to get a better view of the unique combination of coral and marine species found on your NFT.

When do Virtual Reef become real world reefs?

Once our Virtual Reef NFTs are available to buy, there will be a period of time over a few months where our community gets to achieve a series of milestones. From helping to increase sales, to spread the word with our #ShebaHopeGrows, to reef milestones such-as witnessing a spawning event or seeing coral coverage increase exponentially on our restoration sites.

After everyone gets to the top level, we will assign your Virtual Reef NFT to a real reef star planted in one of multiple reef restoration sites across the world. Your real reef star will be geotagged with coordinates, linked to the smart contract behind your Virtual Reef NFT.

Why is SHEBA®
launching NFTs?

It's simple, we have a responsibility to make our planet a better place, for us and our cats.

With the help of the local island community in 2019 we started work restoring the Salisi’ Besar reef, off the coast of Sulawesi in Indonesia. This newly-growing coral reef spells out the word ‘HOPE’ in giant coral letters.

We’ve made a 10-year commitment to the project, which will see us restore the rest of Salisi’ Besar as well as extend our work to other locations in need of hope worldwide. But we can’t do this alone.

That’s why we’re openly inviting ocean lovers everywhere to help play a vital part in the restoration, with the launch of our Virtual Reefs. The money raised will help create a never ending fund for producing reef stars, training more local communities to begin restoring their reefs, whilst the collective itself helps spread hope around the world.

We believe that the power of Web3 technology can drive positive social change.

Where will my money be used?

100% of all proceeds will go towards reef restoration. The community will help decide where those funds go. This could be towards training local NGOs, progressing restoration science, developing ambassador programs and, of course, planting Reef Stars on reef sites around the world.

Why 11,269 NFTs?

We're creating the same number of NFTs, as real Reef Stars planted on Hope Reef - our first coral restoration site. While the number of Virtual Reefs is now set, the number of real-world Reef Stars planted is growing daily.

Do I need cryptocurrency to buy one?

No. Thanks to the Flow blockchain you have multiple options to purchase, including both crypto and normal credit cards.

But aren’t NFTs bad for the environment?

Not all blockchains are built the same. That’s why we use Flow, the most carbon efficient blockchain. It takes less energy to mint one of our NFTs, than a single Google search or Instagram post. You can read more about it here.

Our marine scientists work closely with local island communities to create and plant Reef Stars on coral rubble beds. These special steel structures help to rapidly rebuild coral reefs that have lost the ability to recover on their own.

Our coral reef conservation method has helped coral cover at Hope Reef rocket from under 10% to over an impressive 70%—and we’re just getting started.
